Dr. Ray considers herself fortunate to practice in a profession that is her passion. The practice, established in 1990, serves adults in the Duke medical community, Forest Hills, Rockwood and the surrounding communities of Raleigh, Creedmoor, Chapel Hill, Cary, Hillsborough, and Mebane.
Her team provides comprehensive restorative dentistry including aesthetic smile design, teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, crowns, bridges and implant restorations. As a general dentist, she is responsible for helping the patient maintain their teeth for a lifetime of healthy confident smiles.
Single visit dentistry is the standard of care for Dr. Ray’s office when providing crowns. All crown preparations are imaged with a digital intraoral camera. The crown is designed chairside, using CAD/CAM technology. While the ceramic crown is milled in the on-site lab, the patient relaxes in the reception area and is encouraged to enjoy a nutritious snack provided by the office. Shortly, the crown is seated in the same appointment. There is no return appointment, gooey impression or the inconvenience of a temporary crown; single visit dentistry is here to stay!
In contrast, more complex dental reconstruction and smile design changes may require extensive planning and multiple visits. Communication with the aid of study models and photographs are used to gain the most favorable results to meet the patient’s expectations.
The lovely part of being in practice for 25 years, according to Dr. Ray, is having the chance to see first hand the trends and services that survive the test of time. Although the practice of dentistry is continually changing, the science of dentistry was established on a sound foundation. Fortunately, new technologies have just made the services faster, quieter, more comfortable and often more aesthetically pleasing.
